David’s Dash is a suicide prevention and mental wellbeing charity dedicated to           ensuring that nobody faces a mental health crisis alone.

Founded in memory of David Joyce, we promote a life worth living, connect people with support, champion lived experience, and campaign for improvements in mental health services across the UK.

Every day, around 19 people die by suicide in the UK. Behind every statistic is a person, a family, and a community forever changed. We      believe that through compassion, connection, education, and advocacy, lives can be saved.

Get Involved

By connecting people, sharing stories of hope, promoting understanding, giving or receiving support, volunteering, or fundraising, we CAN make a difference.  Join us in creating a future where people find reasons to stay, fewer lives are lost, and support is available when and where it’s needed.

Welcome to David's Dash

If you have arrived here by scanning one of our David’s Dash cards, thank you and welcome.

David’s Dash was born out of loss — the loss of hope and the loss of a      precious life. It is inspired by Linda Ellis’s poem The Dash, which   reminds us that what matters most is not the date we are born or the date we die, but the dash in between — how we live, the connections we make, and the impact we have on others.

Although David ended his life, we want to honour his dash and continue the positive impact he had on those around him. More importantly, we want to bring hope to others who may be struggling and support those who have experienced the loss of someone they love.

David’s life ended before he could achieve many of his goals and dreams or experience many of life’s joys, both big and small. He had plans. Some he achieved; many were left unfinished.

Through David’s Dash, we hope to continue the journey he was unable to complete.
